Robert Tortoriello is Senior Counsel to Cleary Gottlieb Steen & Hamilton LLP, located in New York. He joined the firm in 1974, was a partner from 1982 through 2015, and became Senior Counsel in 2016. His practice focuses on domestic and foreign bank expansion into all types of nonbank services and securities-related businesses, as well as cross-border transactions and initiatives. Robert has extensive experience in counseling major financial institutions on compliance issues, financial institution mergers, acquisitions, joint ventures, strategic alliances, restructurings, private equity, derivative product transactions, and domestic and international securities offerings.

Throughout his career, Robert has been actively involved in various boards and advisory committees, including the New York City Financial Services Advisory Committee and the Banking Law Committee of the Association of the Bar of the City of New York. He is also an Adjunct Professor of Political Science at Columbia University, teaching American Constitutional History. Robert's dedication to enhancing the legal and regulatory framework within the financial services industry has made him a respected figure in the field.
