Bob Delaney is a former undercover New Jersey state trooper and professional basketball referee in the National Basketball Association (NBA). He began his career with the New Jersey State Police, where he worked undercover for nearly three years as part of "Project Alpha," an operation aimed at infiltrating the New Jersey Mob. During this time, he adopted the undercover name "Bobby Covert" and gathered crucial evidence against mobsters. The intense experience led to post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), which he later addressed by transitioning to a career as an NBA referee.

After retiring from law enforcement, Bob officiated NBA games from the 1987–88 season until the 2010–11 season, working over 1,100 regular-season games, 120 playoff games, and seven NBA Finals games. He has also authored a book, "Covert: My Years Infiltrating the Mob," detailing his undercover experiences. Bob continues to share his story and insights on leadership, PTSD, and self-care as a motivational speaker, helping others navigate similar challenges.
